Angry Me
I’ve been very angry throughout the weekend.
I work in the nongovernmental nonprofit sector and I, along with many others, are in a constant battle with government representatives, and high scale stakeholders in Lebanon to defend and preserve the basic rights of underprivileged people.
A meeting I had on Friday with other NGOs and some ministers, reminded me of how far our politicians still are from becoming remotely civilized. Then on Saturday, I visited a few recently released females inmates, and their stories of injustice, humiliation and suffering brought me down even harder.
Sometimes I feel as if we’re doing nothing, but then again, if I get the chance to help one person have a better life, it’s still worth it…
